Yonder Mountain String Band keeps 'Show' on the road

Progressive bluegrass act Yonder Mountain String Band has hammered out plans for an early 2010 run of the US as the band continues supporting its summertime release, "The Show."

The Colorado-based outfit kicks off the new round of dates Jan. 26 in Fayetteville, AR, and continues with a swing through major markets throughout the eastern half of the nation. The 17-city excursion includes a pair of two-night stands: Asheville, NC (2/3-2/4) and St. Louis (2/19-2/20). The full itinerary is shown at right.

Yonder Mountain String Band released its fifth studio set, "The Show," last September on the group's own Frog Pad Records. The new album marks the band's second time to work alongside rock producer Tom Rothrock (Foo Fighters, Beck).

"I like to think of us as informed by the past and all the great performers before us," banjo player Dave Johnston said of the new material in a message posted at the band's website. "But we also want to look forward rather than give people something that has already been perfected."

"Out of the Blue," a track from the most recent set, is currently available for download at the group's website.
