Nada Surf turns up 'Hi-Fi' spring run

Alt-rockers Nada Surf will hit both the East and West Coasts this spring in support of their forthcoming covers album, "If I Had a Hi-Fi."

The 12-city outing will kick off March 25 in New York City, followed by two Brooklyn performances (March 26-27) and two Canadian shows (March 29 in Toronto and March 30 in Montreal). The spring tour will wrap up in Portland, OR, May 29 after a handful of West Coast performances. Details are shown at right.

The trio of consecutive New York shows will be unlike any other on the tour, as each will feature a different Nada Surf album--"Let Go," "Weight is a Gift" and Lucky," respectively--performed in its entirety, along with fan favorites and b-sides, according to a press release.

"If I Had a Hi-Fi," the band's sixth full-length release, will hit shelves later this year, though no official date has been announced. Fans who attend one of the spring concerts will not only hear tracks from the new set, but will also have the opportunity to pick up the album before it hits retailers.

"We really just wanted to do it organically, whatever we felt like covering in the moment, rather than trying to sum up our influences or something," singer/guitarist Matthew Caws explained about the covers collection in a recent press release. "It's whatever we were excited about in the months before making it. And I think we got to everything we wanted to."

"If I Had a Hi-Fi," which was recorded over three weeks' time in Austin, TX, will be the band's first release since 2008's "Lucky," which reached No. 82 on The Billboard 200.
