Morrissey Gallery Spotlight: Oakland, CA - Dec. 2, 2009

The BBC has referred to Morrissey as "one of the most influential figures in the history of British pop”--and critic Steven Wells called him "the man who more or less invented indie." However you slice it, the former frontman of “ The Smiths” is not the type to rest on past accomplishments.

In October, the singer released the new b-sides compilation album "Swords," which includes "Shame is the Name"--a track performed with The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde. David Bowie fans will be stoked to hear an additional collaborative track: a live version of “Drive-In Saturday.”

Morrissey landed in the US last month for a brief tour, hitting up nine theaters and halls through next Friday (12/11.) SoundSpike photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended his show at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland earlier this week (12/2) and here are some of the results.
