Phil Lesh, Bob Weir plot Furthur course
Former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh will hit the road with their brand-new jam-rock outfit Furthur for a lengthy winter trek.
The pair, alongside keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, guitarist John Kadlecik and drummers Jay Lane and Joe Russo, will begin the excursion with a two-night run Dec. 8-9 in New York City. The band will work through seven performances before the year ends, including a New Year's Eve (12/31) concert in San Francisco. After a month-long hiatus, Furthur will pick up speed in February, stopping by auditoriums in 19 cities through a March 8 conclusion in Portland, OR. Details are below.
This will be the group's first US tour since its September debut, which took place over three nights in Oakland, CA.
Chimenti and Lane both play with Weir's rock outfit RatDog, while Russo comes from the Benevento/Russo Duo and Kadlecik from Dark Star Orchestra.
Last month, Kadlecik officially announced his departure from DSO after a seven-year stint with the Grateful Dead tribute band.
