Stone Temple Pilots grounded to work on new album

Reunited rockers Stone Temple Pilots have pulled the plug on their December and January tour plans so that they can instead focus on recording their first new studio album in nearly a decade.

"STP are postponing the December and January dates until next year so that the band can finish their highly anticipated record, which will be coming out in the early spring of next year," the group announced via its website.

Last year, STP mounted a full-blown reunion tour that marked their first US trek in nearly eight years, and followed up with a sporadic summer schedule this year. The band, which has earned 15 Top 10 singles and a Grammy Award for 1994's "Plush," most recently released "Shangri-La Dee Da" in 2001, after which the group disbanded.
