Flogging Molly maps late winter headlining trek
Celtic punks Flogging Molly have lined up an early 2010 headlining run that includes the band's traditional St. Patrick's Day celebration, which this time will take place in Arizona.
The 28-city outing kicks off Feb. 9 in Dallas, with highlights including dates in Boston (2/27), New York City (3/2) and Chicago (3/13) before the trip concludes with the March 17 St. Paddy's show in Tempe, AZ. Details are included below.
Flogging Molly's latest album, "Float"--which followed 2004's "Within a Mile of Home"--surfaced in spring of last year, debuting at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, No. 1 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart and No. 2 on the magazine's Alternative Albums chart.
"We're still looking forward to actually pulling some new songs off the album that we haven't played live yet," bassist Nathen Maxwell said in an interview with SoundSpike last year, addressing the notion of the band putting together a follow-up to "Float" any time soon. "We're focusing on that, moreso than worried about writing a new album. Writing comes as it comes, for me at least. I have a hard time sitting down and making myself do it. If it comes to you, it comes to you."
The band's previous studio set, 2004's "Within a Mile of Home," hit No. 20 on The Billboard 200 and topped the Independent Music Chart.
