George Strait, Reba McEntire team for 'Twang' tour

George Strait, who's backing his recently released new studio set, "Twang," will team up next year with fellow country icon Reba McEntire for a US arena tour.

The award-winning country stars will kick off the outing with a Jan. 22 performance in Baltimore, followed by stops in 18 cities throughout the nation. The current itinerary, which is listed below, concludes with an April 10 show in Des Moines, IA.

"Twang," Strait's 26th studio album, surfaced in August and took over the No. 1 spots on The Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums chart. The new collection follows last year's platinum-selling "Troubadour," which earned a Grammy for Best Country Album earlier this year.

Strait, who is currently nominated for the CMA Awards' Entertainer of the Year, holds the record for most No. 1 country singles of any artist in history with 57, according to a press release.

In April, the Academy of Country Music honored Strait as its Artist of the Decade during an all-star concert in Las Vegas. "It's almost like this was a farewell deal, but I ain't ready to go yet," the singer told the live audience gathered to see him receive the award.

McEntire, meanwhile, will hit the road in support of "Keep On Loving You," her most recent studio effort, which also hit shelves in August. The album marked her first solo set to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

Last month, the songstress received an American Music Award nod for Favorite Female Country Artist, marking her 23rd career nomination. With 15 trophies already at home, the songstress holds the title of the Female Country Artist with the most wins in the award ceremony's 37-year history.

The 2009 American Music Awards will take place at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre Nov. 22 and will air live on ABC.
