Treasure Island Music Festival Gallery Spotlight: SF, CA - Oct. 17-18, 2009

San Francisco's 3rd annual Treasure Island Music Festival again featured a bounty of artists. The thoughtfully designed two-day schedule offered fans a clear choice of either electronic-based, DJ-oriented talent, or rock and roll of a more traditional bent.

Under a glorious blue sky and warm temperatures, Saturday (10/17) delivered acts such as Passion Pit, Murs, Dan Deacon (the king of audience participation), Brazilian Girls, DJ Krush, MSTRKRFT, Girl Talk and MGMT. On Sunday (10/18), despite a chilly breeze, attendees bundled up and huddled together to hear festival headliner The Flaming Lips, who declared San Francisco their home away from home. Frontman Wayne Coyne was met with cheers after he told the crowd how the city was the first outside of the Lips' native Oklahoma to book them. "Cathy Cohn from the I-Beam--do you remeber the I-Beam?--she invited us to play before anybody knew who we were."

Day 2's lineup also included; Spiral Stairs, Vitiver, Grizzly Bear, Bob Mould, Beirut, The Walkmen, The Decemberists, Yo La Tango. SoundSpike photographer Tim Mosenfelder was there with his camera; here are some of his best shots.
