Barenaked Ladies add dates, unveil Canadian tour

Barenaked Ladies have added a number of shows to their current tour in support of their album "Maroon," according to tour organizers. The new batch of shows includes a 12-date run through the Canadian band's home country in February and March.

In addition to the dozen new Canadian dates set for next year, the group has added a few dates to the current leg of its North American tour, including a Nov. 24 stop in Toronto and a New Year's Eve show in Boston. The group has also added a second night to its December stop in Detroit, with shows now set for both Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.

The group's November show in Portland, Maine, meanwhile, has been moved from Nov. 28 to Nov. 29.

A Feb. 21 show in Hamilton, Ontario, is the first date set on the group's 2001 Canadian tour, and is followed by stops throughout Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. The last stop on the current itinerary is a March 7 show in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Barenaked Ladies' North American tour kicked off last month in Detroit, and continues on Monday night (10/23) in Atlanta. According to tour organizers, alt-rock act Guster occupies the opening slot on the tour through the end of the year, with the exception of the Oct. 28 stop in Philadelphia, which will see Wheatus open the show.

"Maroon" (Reprise) was released on Sept. 12, and debuted at No. 5 on the album chart. "Pinch Me," the album's first single, is currently No. 3 on trade publication Radio & Records' adult alternative chart, which measures national radio airplay. The group plans to release the track commercially as a single on Halloween, according to its official website.

The group's previous album, 1998's "Stunt," sold over 4 million copies and featured the hit "One Week."
