Matisyahu backs 'Light' with club tour

Matisyahu has plotted an extensive fall and winter course across North America behind his recently released third album, "Light."

The Brooklyn-based musician will join forces with backing band Dub Trio for the trek, which kicks off with an Oct. 17 performance in Calgary. The 40-city outing works its way from the West Coast to the East Coast, wrapping up with a Dec. 8 show in Rochester, NY. The full schedule is shown below.

For the North American excursion, Matisyahu has teamed up with the Australian company Posse, which offers peer-to-peer ticketing. According to a press release, the partnership allows fans to promote the shows via their own social-networking profiles and link to tickets directly, earning a commission from each ticket sold.

The nation's top ticket seller will earn a special prize, according to a press release, and the top seller in each market will receive two free tickets and a meet-and-greet opportunity with the performer.

"Light," Matisyahu's third studio set, hit shelves late last month and peaked at No. 19 on The Billboard 200.

"Here, on this record, I dropped the accent a lot more than I ever have, and I tried to allow for my voice to come out and express itself, even with some singing, some rapping, not just with that one style [reggae]," Matisyahu said in an interview with SoundSpike last fall. "So that's probably going to make people say, 'This is really not reggae.'"
