Top acts honor Def Jam Records
Eminem, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Mary J. Blige, Public Enemy, Kid Rock and Rick Ross will be among the acts to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records at the 6th annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors," according to a press release.
Fabolous, DMX, Redman, The Roots, Method Man, ONYX, Warren G, Gym Class Heroes, Ja Rule and Scarface also are scheduled to participate in the festivities honoring the iconic hip-hop record label; Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon and Brett Ratner are confirmed as presenters.
"VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2009," hosted for the third consecutive year by Tracy Morgan, will pay special homage to the architects of Def Jam, including Rick Rubin, Russell Simmons, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Antonio "L.A. Reid." The tribute will feature never-seen-before interviews, archival footage and special performances of some of the label's greatest hits.
The show will be taped at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Opera House in New York and will premiere on VH1 Oct. 13.
