GWAR unleashes 'Lust in Space' on North America
Thrash-metal rockers GWAR have plotted an extensive fall and winter run of the US behind the band's recently released studio set, "Lust in Space."
The costumed rock act, which will kick off the trek with a Sept. 16 show in Memphis, TN, will concentrate on the eastern half of the nation through early November, followed by an excursion to the West Coast and parts of Canada. In all, the three-month outing will touch down in 72 cities throughout North America before the final concert Dec. 13 in New York City. Details are shown below.
"Lust in Space," the rock quintet's 11th studio album, hit retailers last month. The record, which marks the band's 25th anniversary, debuted at No. 96 on The Billboard 200, making it the highest chart position of the group's career, according to a press release.
The Grammy-nominated rockers returned to Metal Blade Records for "Lust in Space," the same label which released nine of the group's 11 albums--most recently "Violence Has Arrived" in 2001. The heavy-metal outfit dropped two records--2004' s "War Party" and 2006's "Beyond Hell"--in the eight-year hiatus.
