Paula Abdul to host 'VH1 Divas'

One of Paula Abdul's first post-"American Idol" gigs will be hosting the Sept. 17 "VH1 Divas" concert taking place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, NY, according to a press release.

The concert, which will air live on VH1, will feature performances by Jordin Sparks, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. Additional performers, presenters and special guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

In addition to the upcoming concert, nearly 50 past "Divas" performances--featuring Diana Ross, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston among others--are now available at VH1.com. The network also is encouraging fans to submit a "Diva Stories" text or video testimonial to the site telling the world how their favorite diva has influenced their lives. Select testimonials may be featured online and on-air leading up to this year's live telecast.

VH1.com also will feature live blogging coverage Sept. 17 leading up to and during the concert.
