Umphrey's McGee expands fall tour

Jam-rockers Umphrey's McGee have filled out their fall itinerary behind their recently released fifth album, "Mantis."

Since last check, seven late-October performances along the West Coast have been added to the 30-city trek, which focuses on the western half of the nation. The jam band continues the outing next week with two nights (8/27-28) in Urbana, IL. The schedule, which includes a handful of festival stops, currently concludes with a three-night New Year's Eve run at a yet-to-be-announced venue in Chicago. Details are below.

"Mantis," the Chicago-based band's fifth studio set, hit shelves in January. The record marks the sextet's first release of new studio material since 2007's "The Bottom Half."

In June, the outfit unveiled "Umphrey's McGee--Live," a new DVD featuring 13 songs performed during the group's 2007 set for PBS's "Soundstage." The high-definition production spans more than two hours and features two bonus tracks, including "Made to Measure" from "Mantis."

Umphrey's McGee will participate in the Caribbean Holidaze, a five-day cruise to Jamaica for music fans slated for Dec. 10-14. The Disco Biscuits, Perpetual Groove, Yacht Rock and more than a dozen others are also scheduled, according to the event's website.
