Bell X1 maps fall US dates
Indie rockers Bell X1 will follow up their impending support stint with U2 by launching a fresh leg of US headlining dates this fall.
The band--which is providing opening support Monday night (7/27) for fellow Irish rockers U2 during one of the latter outfit's Dublin shows--kicks off the US trek Sept. 18 in Hoboken, NJ. The 16-city slate concludes in early October. Details are included below.
The group will be touring in support of its fourth studio album, "Blue Lights on the Runway," which hit stores in March. The set is the band's first album without founding member Brian Crosby, who quit last year to concentrate on production work, according to the group.
The band's previous release, "Flock," surfaced in 2005 in their home country, but wasn't introduced to US fans until February of this year. The album shot straight to No. 1 in Ireland and has since gone five-times platinum in that country on the strength of four Top 20 hits.
The group, now slimmed down to a trio consisting of original members Paul Noonan (vocals, guitar), David Geraghty (guitar, banjo, piano) and Dominc Phillips (bass, backing vocals), are supplemented on the road by drummer Rory Doyle and keyboardist Marc Aubele.
