The Fall hits road to promote latest LP

LONDON--The Fall will tour Britain in November to promote its upcoming album "The Unutterable," which will be released on Nov. 6. The cult punk group fronted by Mark E. Smith will kick off its 10-date club outing at Nottingham, England's Rock City on Nov. 21, finishing up at the Princess Charlotte in Leicester, England, on Dec. 2.

Smith formed the Fall in Manchester, England, in 1977. The original line-up included guitarist Martin Bramah, bassist Tony Friel, keyboardist Una Baines and drummer Karl Burns. Their most memorable tunes include "Mr. Pharmacist," "Hit the North" and "Totally Wired."

The new 15-track album "The Unutterable" is noted to include classic snarly vocals from Smith on some tracks as well as a heavy bass sound on others. Influences cited for the album on the Fall's official website also include William Blake's poetry and "the virtual world of communication." The group's last studio album was "The Marshall Suite" in 1999.
