State Radio plans to 'Let It Go' with fall run, volunteerism

Boston rock outfit State Radio will celebrate the forthcoming release of "Let It Go" with a fall tour of North America, coupled with service projects at each stop.

The outing kicks off Sept. 30--the day after the album's debut--with a performance in Norfolk, VA, followed by club and theater gigs in 19 cities, as well as appearances at Bridgport's CT's Gathering of the Vibes Festival (7/25) and the Austin City Limits Music Festival (10/4). The road trip wraps with two Canadian shows slated for Nov. 6 in Toronto and Nov. 7 in Montreal. Details are shown below.

Pre-sale tickets for the trek are available now via the band's website and include a free digital copy of the new record.

The alt-rockers--singer/guitarist Chad Stokes, bassist Chuck Fay and drummer Mike "Mad Dog" Najarian--recorded "Let It Go," their third studio effort and the follow-up to last year's "Year of the Crow," live to tape with producer Dom Monks. The 11-track set, which hits shelves Sept. 29, also will be available via the band's website in two deluxe packages: a digital deluxe album plus "Live at The Brattle Theater," a 30-song double-disc recorded over two nights at the Boston venue; and a special-edition deluxe fan pack featuring a collector's edition vinyl copy of "Let It Go," an eco-friendly digipack physical CD, the aforementioned "Live at The Brattle Theater" album, a bootleg recording of a Washington, DC, performance last December, and an exclusive T-shirt.

The album's lead single, "Knights of Bostonia," currently is available for free download at the band's MySpace page.

The East Coast band will continue its tradition of organizing and performing service projects in each of the cities on the fall excursion through Calling All Crows, a humanitarian group launched by Stokes and his activist partner Sybil Gallagher.

"In these challenging economic times, we need volunteers more than ever," Stokes said at the organization's official website. "As we've seen on tour with State Radio, non-profit organizations across the country are facing increasing demands for service, and volunteers can help fill the growing need."

Fans can get more information about volunteer opportunities and sign up to participate at the Calling All Crows website.
