AC/DC adds more 'Ice' to upcoming tour leg
AC/DC has added a new date to the next leg of its North American "Black Ice" tour, and has also tapped the tour's opening act.
Northern Irish rockers The Answer will offer sole opening support for the Aussie hard-rock legends on their impending trek, which kicks off July 28 in Foxborough, MA. The outing--including the leg's latest addition, a Sept. 2 show in San Jose, CA--is scheduled to hit 18 cities through early September. Details are included below.
The summer run comes on the heels of last October's "Black Ice," the band's first new studio effort in more than eight years. The album made history, debuting at No. 1 on the charts in 29 countries including the US, with stateside sales of more than 780,000 copies its first week.
"Black Ice" also became Columbia Records' biggest debut album since Nielson SoundScan sales tracking began in 1991, according to a press release. The successful first week was quite a feat, considering the album is sold exclusively at Walmart, Sam's Club and via the band's website.
The rock icons kicked off the initial leg of the "Black Ice World Tour" last October, marking the group's first live performance in five years. The long-awaited trek posted sellouts in 18 major markets, prompting encore performances in several cities, and broke sales records at a handful of North American venues.
The Answer's debut album, "Everyday Demons," hit stores in March. The set was recoded last year in Los Angeles with John Travis (Kid Rock, Static-X) producing.
