Silversun Pickups line up summer tour run
Alt-rockers Silversun Pickups are heading into a busy summer road stretch as they continue to back their most recent studio set, April's "Swoon."
The Los Angeles-based band will tackle a slate of European appearances this month and next before launching a crowded North American itinerary later this summer, kicking off with an Aug. 2 slot at New Jersey's All Points West Festival. The forthcoming trek, which features several dates in Canadian cities, concludes Aug. 29 in San Diego, CA. Details are below.
Most of the August dates will feature support from indie rockers Manchester Orchestra and Cage the Elephant. Silversun Pickups' overseas itinerary can be found at the band's website.
"Swoon," the band's sophomore studio effort, surfaced in April on the Dangerbird label. The album, which was produced by Dave Cooley (J Dilla, Rolling Blackouts), debuted at No. 7 on The Billboard 200, with sales of 43,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The set follows the band's 2006 debut, "Carnavas," which was also produced by Cooley. The group also released an EP, "Pikul," in 2005.
