James Taylor keeps pushing 'Covers'
James Taylor has extended his US tour behind last year's "Covers," tacking a handful of dates onto the existing September itinerary.
The singer/songwriter, who first hit the road in April behind the September release, has added five stops since last check: San Antonio, TX (9/9); El Paso, TX (9/10); Albuquerque (9/12); Tucson, AZ (9/13) and Central Point, OR (9/18). The full schedule is detailed below.
Taylor will prepare for the June 27 kick-off of a 22-city European leg with a weeklong excursion aboard the Queen Mary 2. The ocean liner sets sail June 19 from New York and lands in Southampton, England June 25, during which Taylor will perform, take part in a live Q&A session and visit with fans at a private post-concert reception.
Once on land, the singer/songwriter will visit European festivals and arenas through the beginning of August, with more dates to be announced soon, according to his website.
The Grammy Award-winning artist, who graced the stage of the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" for the show's late May finale, released "Covers" last September. The record debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 with sales of 94,500 units its first week out. Recorded during a 10-day session in Taylor's Massachusetts studio, "Covers" features songs from iconic artists such as Leonard Cohen, George Jones and The Temptations, among others.
"Other Covers," a seven-song companion set, surfaced in April. The disc includes material that couldn't fit on the first release, such as remakes of Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour" and Eddie Floyd's "Knock on Wood."
