The Jesus Lizard schedules reunion shows

Reformed alt-rockers The Jesus Lizard will set out on the road for a limited number of comeback dates this year, including appearances at a pair of major rock festivals.

The Chicago-based band, which originally broke up in 1999, has already made a few reunion appearances overseas, and will play its first US show July 14 in Nashville, TN. Following a July 17 slot at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, the band will appear at the Sept. 11 All Tomorrow's Parties in Monticello, NY, before embarking on a more extensive road trip in October and November. Dates are included below.

The reunion shows will feature the band's original lineup of David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm. Sims and Mac McNeilly.

Touch and Go Records, The Jesus Lizard's original label, reissued four of the band's albums and one EP in May. Remastered versions of 1990's "Head," 1991's "Goat," 1992's "Liar" and 1994's "Down" are all currently available on both CD and vinyl, along with a remaster of the 1989 EP "Pure" on vinyl (the EP is also included on the CD version of "Head").

The group's most recent studio album, 1998's "Blue," was also the second album in the band's contract with Capitol Records. The set was produced by Gang of Four's Andy Gill.

Although the Jesus Lizard never found widespread popular success in their original incarnation, the band was well-respected in indie circles, releasing six albums during the '90s, starting with the band's 1990 debut, "Head." The group broke up in 1999 following several personnel changes.
