Arc Angels map first headlining tour on comeback road
Fresh off of supporting Eric Clapton in the UK and Ireland, reunited rockers Arc Angels will mount a headlining tour of their own this month.
The band--consisting of Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall II and Chris Layton--kicks off the trek with three early June shows, then digs into the bulk of the outing in July. The 12-city run concentrates mainly on the western half of the US, with stops including Dallas (7/9), Tucson, AZ (7/13) and San Francisco (7/18). The full schedule is included below.
Austin, TX-based Arc Angels originally formed in the early '90s, featuring two members of the late Stevie Ray Vaughn's band, Double Trouble, in drummer Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. The group released a self-titled debut album in 1992, making its network television debut on NBC's "Late Night with David Letterman," before breaking up the following year. The band--including Shannon, who is sitting things out this time around--has reunited several times in the past for one-off appearances.
"Charlie and I started to write together again and decided that we should get the band back together," Bramhall, a longtime member of Clapton's touring band, said in a press statement. "The chemistry that we all have together is one entity and it's something very real. It's fun."
"The stars kind of aligned once again. The band's back together and we're doing some new things," added Layton.
The group's MySpace page currently advises fans to "look for the new DVD and CD available soon." The band is not signed to a record label at the present.
