Just like the title of one of his hit songs, Tony Bennett is indeed living "The Good Life." The Grammy-winning crooner will turn 83 in August, but he shows few signs of slowing down, In fact, he's still a touring maniac with dates booked through to February 2010.

Bennett's first hit single, "Because of You," came in 1951. Over the years, he refined his style to became a masterful jazz singer, and in 1962 he recorded his signature song, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." During the '60s rock era his efforts went virtually unrecognized, but he stayed true to himself and had a big comeback in the late '80s, thanks in part to the MTV generation.

To date, Tony Bennett has won 15 Grammys, he's been named a Kennedy Center Honoree and an NEA Jazz Master, and his records sales have reportedly topped 50 million worldwide.

SoundSpike contributing photographer Gene Shilling attended Tony
Bennett's Detroit show in April, and here are some of his photos.
