Koko Taylor recovering from surgery
Koko Taylor recently underwent surgery in Chicago to correct gastrointestinal bleeding, according to a press release. The May 19 operation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital was successful and doctors anticipate a full recovery for the 80-year-old "Queen of the Blues."
Taylor's most recent live performance was May 7 at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, where she was honored as Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year. After receiving the award, she performed her signature song, "Wang Dang Doodle."
