Melissa Etheridge continues to expand 'Alone' trek

Melissa Etheridge has extended her summer "Live & Alone 2009" tour, more than tripling the number of performances previously on her itinerary.

The North American outing, which gets underway June 13 in Del Mar, CA, now crisscrosses the nation three times before wrapping up Aug. 31 in Hampton Beach, NH. The award-winning singer will also head north of the border for a two-night stand June 19-20 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The full schedule is below.

Etheridge is still supporting 2007's "The Awakening," her first new studio release in three years. The performer spent a large portion of 2008 on the road behind the set, which debuted at No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart. The lead single, "Message to Myself," spent several weeks on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.

Etheridge, who keeps busy with both her music and philanthropic ventures, has contributed the track "I Run For Life" to the documentary "A Wing and a Prayer." The film, which chronicles actress Farrah Fawcett's ongoing battle with cancer, will air later this year on NBC. Etheridge faced her own breast cancer diagnosis five years ago, announcing in the summer of 2005 that she was cancer-free.
