Coldplay to give away live album on tour
Coldplay will thank every attendee of the band's upcoming "Viva La Vida" summer tour with an exclusive live CD free of charge.
The British alt-rockers, who hit the US tour trail beginning May 15 in West Palm Beach, FL, will offer a free copy of "LeftRightLeftRightLeft" to fans attending the group's shows through the end of 2009. The band's current slate of US dates runs through an Aug. 9 performance in Tampa. Details are below.
"Playing live is what we love," the quartet released in a prepared statement. "This album is a thank you to our fans--the people who give us a reason to do it and people who make it happen."
The live tracks will also be available for free download on the band's website beginning May 15, according to a press release.
Pete Yorn, Snow Patrol, Amadou & Mariam, Elbow, Howling Bells and Kitty Daisy & Lewis will take turns providing opening support for the Grammy Award-winning group's North American run.
Coldplay's most recent album, last summer's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," scaled the charts internationally, peaking at No. 1 in 36 countries. The group's fourth studio album also became the best-selling digital album in SoundScan history, as well as the biggest-selling album of 2008.
