Fischerspooner to premiere new album, stage show on road

Electropop duo Fischerspooner will take their forthcoming studio album on the road next month with an ambitious stage show based around the new tunes.

The pair of Casey Spooner and Warren Fischer--supplemented onstage by a crew of musicians, vocalists and dancers--will preview the album and stage production during three nights in New York City beginning April 23. The intimate performances will take place before audiences of only 60 people each night.

"This is not like any show we have done before," Spooner said in a statement. "The songs of the current album and other songs from our catalogue are set against a visual and sonic collage made from disparate literary and historical sources and theatrical traditions--the US space program in the '60s, Noh and Kabuki theater, Flamenco, Mark Twain and other disparate sources.

"It sounds strange and ridiculous but it all adds up. It becomes a very American story about ambition, experimentation, danger and the frontier. We wanted to create a show where it was impossible to decipher history or specific references. We are in a different place a decade later and this show reflects that."

The following month, the group kicks off a headlining tour May 6 in Philadelphia. The 22-city outing continues into early June. Details are below.

The band's forthcoming third studio album, "Entertainment," is set to surface May 5. Produced by Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, The Black Keys), the set follows 2005's "Odyssey," which featured guest contributions from David Byrne and Linda Perry, among others.

"Supply & Demand," the new album's first single, is available as a free download at the band's website.
