Demi Lovato to hit arenas on summer trek

Teen actress and pop sensation Demi Lovato will launch a major concert tour this summer, hitting arenas and large theaters across the United States.

The megatour--which features last year's "American Idol" runner-up, David Archuleta, in a support role--gets underway June 21 in Hartford, CT, and will travel to 47 cities during an outing that extends into late August. Tickets go on sale April 25.

Highlights of the trek include stops in Boston (6/26), Los Angeles (7/17), Chicago (7/24) and suburban Washington, DC (8/20 in Fairfax, VA). The full schedule is included below.

On tour, the 16-year-old Lovato will be supporting her hot-selling debut album, "Don't Forget," which surfaced last September at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. A deluxe edition of the album, featuring a pair of bonus tracks and a DVD including live and behind-the-scenes footage, hit retailers last month.

Lovato worked with producer Jon Fields on the set while teaming with fellow Disney stars the Jonas Brothers to co-write six of the album's 11 songs. "If I were to write the album by myself, it would probably have been a little more serious," she said her bio. "But I didn’t want that. I wanted a fun album."

Several cuts from the set are currently streaming at Lovato's MySpace page.

The singer/actress first gained notice after co-starring with the Jonas Brothers in the 2008 Disney Channel movie "Camp Rock." She currently stars in the sketch comedy series "Sonny With a Chance," which premiered on the Disney Channel in February.
