Eminem set to perform at MTV Movie Awards

Eminem has been tapped to perform at the 18th annual MTV Movie Awards, which will air live May 31 at 9 p.m. ET.

The rapper's return to the stage will come on the heels of his long-awaited new album, "Relapse," which hits retailers May 19. The video for his first single, "We Made You," which openly mocks Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and other celebrities, made its MTV debut April 7. His most recent studio effort, ""Encore," reached No. 1 on The Billboard 200 when it debuted in 2004 and is certified quadruple platinum.

This year's MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Saturday Night Live's Andy Sandberg and will be the first time fans nominate the films. Beginning today (4/13) and running through April 20, the public can vote for the movies they would like to see nominated for the 2009 awards. Categories include "Best Movie," "Best Female Performance," "Best Villain" and "Best WTF Moment." Voting can be found at MTV's website.

MTV will announce the official nominees for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards May 4, after which fans can return to the website to vote for the winners. This second round of voting closes May 18, with the exception of the "Best Movie" category, which will continue on through the May 31 awards show.
