Gomez floods US with new spring 'Tide' dates

Alt-rockers Gomez will return to the US later this spring for a mix of headlining and festival shows in support of the band's just-released new album, "A New Tide."

The British act, which finished up an early spring US outing earlier this month, will launch a second US visit in May leading up to the band's June 12 appearance at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Festival. The trek, which gets underway May 22 in Detroit, is set to visit 14 cities, including the closing festival gig. Details are included below.

Meanwhile, the group will launch a UK tour later this month. Those dates are posted at the band's official website.

Gomez's latest studio album, "A New Tide," hit stores late last month. The group's sixth studio set follows 2006's "How We Operate," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.

Co-produced by the band and Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse), "A New Tide" features guest performances from several musicians, including Amy Milan of Stars and Broken Social Scene, bassist John Abrams, cellist Oliver Krauss and multi-instrumentalist Stuart Bogie of Brooklyn's Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra.

In 2006, Gomez also released "Five Men in a Hut," a career-spanning, 2-CD set featuring UK singles, B-sides and previously unreleased material. A companion DVD of the same name chronicles all the videos the quintet made with Virgin imprint Hut Records and includes live performance and interview footage.
