Duffy sweeps Brit Awards

Duffy swept the Brit Awards Wednesday (2/18) with three honors including Best Album, British Female and British Breakthrough Act, according to published reports. The Welsh singer's album, "Rockferry," was Britain's top-selling release of 2008, with worldwide sales close to five million.

Grammy-winning rockers Coldplay, which performed "Viva La Vida" at the ceremony, were nominated for four Brits but went home empty-handed. The band was beat out by Elbow in the British Group category and by Iron Maiden for best British Live Act.

In addition to Iron Maiden, another well established act, Paul Weller, was a big winner, leaving the ceremony with the British Male Solo award.

In the international categories, Kings of Leon took home both the International Group and International Album awards. Katy Perry was named Best International Female and Kanye West took the male counterpart award.

Florence and the Machine won the Critics' Choice Award and the Pet Shop Boys were awarded a Brit for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
