Free Yr Radio benefit compilation highlights indie artists
Tokyo Police Club, Mudhoney and No Age are among the bands featured on the upcoming Free Yr Radio benefit compilation, scheduled to hit stores tomorrow (1/27).
The album, which is comprised of songs by bands that participated in the 2008 Free Yr Radio tour, also features tracks by The Walkmen, Jamie Lidell, Secret Machines, Yeasayer, White Williams, Dan Deacon, !!!, Chairlift, and King Khan & Saba Lou, according to a press release.
Available exclusively at Insound.com, the collection will sell for only 99 cents. However, buyers will be encouraged to add a "tip" as a way to donate more funds and show support of non-commercial radio.
All profits will be donated to the Free Yr Radio campaign, which was created by Toyota Yaris and Urban Outfitters to generate awareness and support for independent radio stations. Indie stations participating in the 2008 campaign include KVRX in Austin, KEXP in Seattle, KUSF in San Francisco, WVKR in New York Ohio.FM in Columbus, KRCL in Salt Lake City, WPRB in Philadelphia, KIWR in Omaha, WERS in Cambridge, The Current in Minneapolis, KUCI in Irvine, and WVUM in Miami.
