The Tragically Hip Set Three-Month Tour Of U.S., Canada

The Tragically Hip, who are bona-fide stars in Canada but remain relatively unknown in the U.S., will open a three-month tour of the U.S. and Canada on Oct. 2.

The Canadian rock band's tour will play clubs and theaters at most U.S. stops. In Canada, the tour will focus on the arena circuit.

Most shows will be dubbed "An Evening with the Tragically Hip" and will feature extended sets from the band rather than an opening act. Shows in Norfolk, Va., Atlanta, New Orleans and Austin, Texas, will feature Superdrag in the opening slot; opening acts in Los Angeles and San Francisco have not been announced. More details about the line-up for specific shows are available at the band's official website. The site also features details about ticket on-sales for the tour.

The Hip are also scheduled to play a Sept. 16 benefit in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for War Child Canada. The organization aids children in war-torn parts of the world.

In June, the Hip released its latest album "Music @ Work." The album entered the Canadian charts at No. 1, but peaked at No. 139 on the Billboard 200 U.S. album chart.
