¡Cubanismo! Set To Launch North American Tour
Latin dance band ¡Cubanismo! has announced a roughly two-month-long North American tour that will kick off with a performance at San Diego's Street Scene festival on Saturday (9/9). The 15-piece orchestra will then play throughout the U.S. and Canada, wrapping up with a two night stand at Los Angeles' House of Blues in November.
Led by Cuban trumpeter Jesús Alemañy, ¡Cubanismo! is touring in support of its fourth and latest album, "Mardi Gras Mambo: ¡Cubanismo! in New Orleans." The album features the Cuban band paired with the New Orleans artists the Yockamo All-Stars and vocalist John Boutte. The assembled group collaborated on cover versions of a number of New Orleans classics.
¡Cubanismo! released its self-titled debut in 1996. That disc was followed by "Malembe" in 1997, and "Reencarnación" in 1998. "Mardi Gras Mambo" hit shelves in August.
