Frank Zappa audio-documentary set for November release
A Frank Zappa audio-documentary, "Lumpy Money," will be released Nov. 25, marking the 40th anniversary of the albums "Lumpy Gravy" and "We're Only In It For The Money," which Zappa considered his solo debuts both as an artist and a record producer, according to a press release.
The 3-CD set, known to some as Phase One and Phase Two, feature original masters including an unreleased orchestral version of "Lumpy Gravy" and the original mono mix of "We're Only In It For The Money."
The wholly instrumental, orchestral master of "Lumpy Gravy" was recorded at Capitol Studios in 1967 and was slated for release on Capitol Records. But Zappa completely reworked the album, concurrent with the recording of "We're Only In It For The Money," and it was released in 1968 on MGM/Verve.
