Neil Young Expands Tour; Beck To Open In Some Markets
Neil Young has added several new dates to his current North American tour, many of which will feature Beck in the opening slot. Young's itinerary now includes stops in Phoenix, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, as well as three-night stands in both Colorado and Los Angeles.
Shows have been added on Sept. 24 in Phoenix, Sept. 25 in San Diego, Sept. 27 in Santa Barbara, Sept. 30 in Portland and Oct. 1 in Vancouver. Young is also now scheduled to perform at L.A.'s Greek Theatre on Sept. 11, 12 and 14, and at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 19, 20 and 22.
Offbeat rocker Beck will be on the bill in San Diego, Santa Barbara, Portland and Vancouver. According to Beck's official website, Beck will play acoustic sets. Whether or not he'll be backed by other musicians hasn't been decided.
Tickets to Young's Phoenix and Portland shows go on sale to the general public on Friday (9/1), while tickets to the San Diego and Vancouver dates will be made available on Thursday (8/31). Tickets to all four shows went on sale to Young's fan club members on Wednesday (8/30) via a special Internet pre-sale.
In addition to Young's headlining tour in support of his latest album "Silver and Gold," the musician is also scheduled to perform at this year's annual Farm Aid benefit concert in Virginia on Sept. 17.
Young founded Farm Aid in 1985, along with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp. David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash--with whom Young reunited for a successful tour earlier this year--have joined this year's Farm Aid lineup for a performance with Young, according to Farm Aid's official website. Sawyer Brown has also been added to the event's bill, the site said.
