Culture Club Plans North American Tour
Culture Club, continuing on the comeback trail, has assembled four weeks of U.S. tour dates beginning Sept. 20. The Boy George-led group re-formed after a 10-year hiatus to record a "Storytellers" program for VH1 in 1998.
The group's latest album "Don't Mind If I Do" was released last November in Great Britain. Though it initially was scheduled to be released two months later in the U.S., the album has yet to be issued in North America.
In addition to his work with Culture Club, cross-dressing frontman Boy George has also been working as a club DJ, as well as hosting a syndicated dance music radio program in the U.K.
Culture Club's tour stop in Singapore earlier this year made news when concert venue ushers forced audience members to remain in their seats. Singapore has laws that prohibit audiences from standing up or dancing in the aisles, but those laws hadn't been strictly enforced since 1998. Venue management blamed the incident on miscommunication with the tour's promoter.
