Pearl Jam Discusses Roskilde Tragedy With Denmark Police
update: Members of Pearl Jam have held their planned meetings with Danish police to discuss the circumstances that may have contributed to the deaths of nine people in a crowd crush during the band's set at Denmark's Roskilde Festival in June, the band announced in a statement issued on Monday (8/14).
The band members, who are not under criminal investigation, voluntarily met with police on Aug. 8 and 9 "in an effort by both parties to gain a better understanding of the factors that may have led to the Festival tragedies," the statement said.
At the invitation of the band, Danish police also attended Pearl Jam's Aug. 9 performance in West Palm Beach, Fla., to observe the band's security measures. Pearl Jam has also offered to send its security team to Denmark to consult with Roskilde Festival officials to devise a plan to improve security at next year's event.
The details of Pearl Jam's statements to police will not be released until the conclusion of the police inquiry.
