Delta Spirit spreads 'Sunshine' on winter trek

Americana/soul-based indie-rockers Delta Spirit will hit the road early next year for a club trek behind the band's debut album, "Ode to Sunshine."

The group, which hails from San Diego, will launch the headlining outing Jan. 16 in Los Angeles, the same night it appears as the live act on that night's episode of ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live." After a short break, the tour picks up Feb. 4 in San Francisco and runs through early March. Details are included below.

The band originally self-released its debut album, distributing the set digitally on iTunes and Amazon before the it was picked up by Rounder Records and re-released in August. The self-produced set was recorded in "a cabin in the San Diego mountains," according to a press release.

The group--Jon Jameson (bassist), Brandon Young (percussionist), Matthew Vasquez (vocalist), Sean Walker (guitarist) and Kelly Winrich (multi-instrumentalist)--formed in 2005 from the remnants of other local bands. The quintet released its debut EP, "I Think I've Found It," in 2006, cutting its teeth by opening for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Cold War Kids, and Dr. Dog, among other acts.
