Trace Adkins makes up shows in February
Trace Adkins, who just scored his first set of Grammy nominations, will start his 2009 tour schedule with a half-dozen makeup dates that were recently postponed due to illness.
Before the country star hits the road in February, he'll join Lynyrd Skynyrd to celebrate New Year's Eve in two time zones. The performers will play in Pikeville, KY, and Nashville on the same night--each act opening the show in one city then traveling across state lines to close the show in the other, according to a press release.
Adkins' rescheduled arena outing is set to launch Feb. 12 in Huntington, WV, and swing through Canton, OH; Reading, PA; Tulsa, OK; Kansas City, MO; and Wichita Falls, TX, by the month's end. The singer was forced to bow out of gigs in those cities this month due to an intestinal flu, according to various reports. Since last check, he has also added a handful of North American dates stretching into next August. Details are listed below.
Adkins is supporting his 10th record, appropriately titled "X," which surfaced last month and reached No. 7 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The lead single, "Muddy Water," continues to climb country singles charts and is streaming at Adkins' MySpace page.
Meanwhile, the singer/actor/author is basking in the glow of his first Grammy nominations in his 12-year career. The song "You're Gonna Miss This," off last year's "American Man: Greatest Hits, Vol. II," is up for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song.
