New Gomez LP To Follow August Shows
LONDON--Lo-fi band Gomez is scheduled to release its latest album "Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline" in the U.K. on Sept. 25. The 15-track compilation will feature 12 songs not previously available to fans, including a cover of the Beatles' "It's Getting Better."
The LP is preceded by a five-date Australian tour and by appearances at the Reading-Leeds Festival, the group's last U.K. shows. Gomez will then take a "lengthy sabbatical."
The quintet first acquired widespread popularity in the U.K. after its 1997 album "Bring It On" won Britain's annual Mercury Music Prize. Its last release was 1999's "Liquid Skin," which went to No. 30 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Chart in the U.S.
