Maxi Priest, Andrew Tosh, Others To Perform On “Reggaeblitz” Tour
Reggae artists Maxi Priest, Andrew Tosh, Toots & the Maytals and Ky-Mani Marley will be on the bill for the debut Reggaeblitz Summerfest 2000 Tour, which is scheduled to open a month-long run on Aug. 7.
The tour, sponsored by online and offline video and music distributor Musicblitz, will visit venues ranging from clubs to amphitheaters in about 20 markets throughout August. The outing will also serve to support a 16-song compilation CD titled "Reggaeblitz All-Stars," (Musicblitz) which features Shabba Ranks, Maxi Priest, Andrew Tosh, Black Uhuru and others.
Maxi Priest is currently wrapping up a tour of Japan with Beenie Man, Morgan Heritage, Big Mountain, En Vogue and others. His latest album "CombiNation" (Virgin) was released last week.
Andrew Tosh, the oldest son of the late reggae great Peter Tosh, recorded several of his father's songs on his 1988 debut album "Original Man." He has also toured extensively with the Wailers.
Toots and the Maytals have been key figures in reggae music since the '60s. An album titled "The Very Best of Toots and the Maytals" was released by Island Records in April.
The debut album from Ky-Mani Marley, a son of Bob Marley, was first released in the U.S. in 1999.
