The Cheetah Girls launch 'One World' trek
Disney stars The Cheetah Girls will embark on a 50-city tour this fall following the release of their third movie and film soundtrack.
"The Cheetah Girls One World Tour" is set to launch Oct. 8 in Austin, TX, and visit US arenas from coast to coast, plus Toronto, through late December. The full itinerary is listed below. Tickets for most of the shows go on sale Aug. 23.
The members of the pop/R&B trio--Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams--are supporting their new Disney Channel Original Movie, "The Cheetah Girls One World," in which the singers travel to India to star in a Bollywood flick. The film premieres Aug. 22 and the soundtrack, which features a dozen hip-hop, R&B and Indian-influenced tracks, is set to drop three days prior.
The forthcoming movie and soundtrack are sequels to 2006's "The Cheetah Girls 2." That year, the group launched its first national tour, which grossed $26 million over 86 dates, according to a press release. The outing was captured on the 2007 CD/DVD collection "In Concert: The Party's Just Begun Tour."
The girls followed that set with their first non-soundtrack studio album, "TCG," which surfaced last fall and reached No. 44 on The Billboard 200. Bailon, Bryan and Williams took more control over that effort, participating in the writing and recording process.
The multi-platinum-selling Cheetah Girls began as a 2003 Disney Channel Original Movie based on the best-selling book by Deborah Gregory. The group was a quartet until Raven-Symone left in 2006 to pursue her solo career.
