Jamie Lidell lines up American dates before Euro trip

Singer/songwriter Jamie Lidell has set up a North American run behind his latest studio album, "Jim," as he prepares to open for Elton John in Europe later in the year.

The British electronica performer, fresh off an appearance earlier this month at Chicago's Lollapalooza, will kick off the outing Sept. 26 in Austin, TX, with appearances at both the Austin City Limits Festival and a nightclub in the city later that evening. The 14-city trek winds through late October; details can be found below.

In addition to the North American dates, Lidell has a run of European shows coming in November and December. Check his MySpace page for overseas dates.

"Jim," the singer's third studio album, hit stores earlier this year. The disc follows Lidell's 2005 breakthrough set, "Multiply," which included the song "A Little Bit More," used extensively by retailer Target in a series of commercials, as well as the title song, which appeared in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy."

"The most important thing was the vocal, to capture the balance of me delivering the songs with full gusto, and at the same time retaining the grain and the grit," Lidell said of the album's recording process on his website.
