Tina Turner Maps Second North American Tour Leg
All but a handful dates and venues have been confirmed for the second North American leg of Tina Turner's "Twenty-Four Seven" world tour. The R&B legend will be touring Europe through Aug. 12, and will break for more than a month before returning to the North American arena circuit.
Tickets for the leg's Sept. 20 opening in Boston are now on sale, as are tickets for the tour's Oct. 4 stop in Chicago. At press time, no other ticket on-sale information had been announced.
At a concert last week in Zurich, Switzerland--the singer's home for more than a decade--Turner reiterated plans to retire from the road after her current tour concludes, according to European reports.
"I've been performing for 44 years; I really should hang up my dancing shoes," she reportedly told the crowd at Lefzigrund Stadium on July 1. "I can't keep up with Janet Jackson. I'm not a diva like Diana Ross. I'm rock 'n' roll, but I'm happy I can do it one more time, so people can remember me at my best."
According to Amusement Business, Tina Turner's tour has grossed nearly $32 million since opening in late March, second only to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young among the years' top tours.
