Alanis Plans Unusual Summer Venture
LONDON-- Alanis Morissette has announced a 15-date world tour which will begin in Chennai, India, on June 29 and will take her to ten countries which she missed on her 1998-99 world tour.
Following a June 16 appearance at the MMH2000 music awards--a joint venture between MTV Asia and CCTV in Beijing, China--Morissette will visit Lebanon, Israel and Turkey, as well as India and various European countries.
"I call this tour my self-indulgent leg... going to places that I've been and yearned to return to, or places that I've not been and been drawn to," said Morissette in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Canadian songstress, who launched her acting career last year by appearing in Kevin Smith's movie "Dogma," will appear in an episode of the TV show "Sex in the City" to be aired on June 25. She also recently made her theatrical stage debut in "The Vagina Monologues," which ran from March 21 to April 2 in Manhattan.
Her last live performance was in Rome on May 1 at the Great Jubilee Concert for a Debt-Free World, where she played for Pope John Paul II and an audience of 300,000 youths.
