Gov't Mule expands fall tour to West Coast

Southern jam band Gov't Mule has added a West Coast leg to its current tour, and has also confirmed dates for its annual New Year's engagement in New York City.

The band is supporting its latest studio release--last year's "High and Mighty"--during the outing, which kicks off its next segment Oct. 3 in Toronto. The newly added West Coast dates begin with a Nov. 7 show in San Diego and continue through the middle of November.

The band has 31 cities lined up along the way, not including the three New York dates, which start Dec. 28 and run through the traditional New Year's Eve show. All dates are below.

"High and Mighty" was co-produced by Haynes and Gordie Johnson, former member of Canadian blues-rock outfit Big Sugar. The challenge, as usual for Gov't Mule, was in capturing the dynamics of its live act in a studio environment.

"We took the interplay that happens on stage and utilized it to create something magical in the studio," Haynes said in a press release. "Even within the structures of some of the more straight-ahead rock songs, this band plays with a jazz sensibility."
