Liam Says Oasis Will End If Noel Goes Solo

LONDON-- Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher told a British tabloid this week that the band will be finished if his brother Noel decides to start a solo career.

In Milan, Italy on Tuesday (5/30), following Oasis' first concert since Noel quit the band's European tour on May 23, Gallagher told the Sun, "When you do a solo album, how can you go back… If he does a f------ solo album then Oasis will be over."

In the May 25 edition of the Sun, Noel blamed his walk-out on Gallagher's "massive ego" and said he didn't have a relationship with his brother "outside of the band."

Gallagher dismissed Noel's claims that they didn't get along on a personal level. "I have disagreements with everyone, not just Noel. It just goes on with Noel and me, but that's fine… That's brothers for you."

Gallagher also admitted that Oasis would probably never be popular in the U.S. "I don't think we will ever break the States 'cos we are Oasis. We have been the biggest band. But now it's more about being the most important band and I think we are. U2 and R.E.M. are the biggest bands but they are not important."

The Milan show was Oasis' first date with new guitarist Matt Deighton, who was recruited to take Noel's place.
