Tommy Lee Released From Jail
Former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, who was sentenced on Friday (5/25) to five days in jail for violating his probation, was released on Tuesday (5/30).
Lee, who currently fronts the band Methods of Mayhem, was arrested in February 1998 after allegedly kicking wife Pamela Anderson during an altercation and was charged with felony spousal abuse. He pled no contest and subsequently served four months of a six-month prison term before being released on probation. One condition of his probation was that he not drink alcohol. Prosecutors claimed earlier this month that Lee had been seen doing so. Published reports claim that Anderson, from whom Lee is currently estranged, informed prosecutors of Lee's alleged alcohol consumption.
In addition to sending Lee back to jail last weekend, Judge Lawrence J. Mira extended Lee's probation to May 26, 2003, reinstated his random drug testing and ordered him to enroll in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Lee is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 5 for a progress report to ensure that he is adhering to the terms of his probation. In light of his release, the Methods of Mayhem tour--scheduled to resume in Amsterdam on Sunday (6/4)--will be unaffected.
