Peter Bjorn and John 'Block' out dates for first North American tour
Swedish popsters Peter Bjorn and John look to expand their North American horizon beyond New York, Los Angeles and Austin, TX, when they launch a headlining tour late this month.
The indie trio, which is backing this year's studio release, "Writer's Block," played a series of shows on both coasts and at Austin's SXSW music festival earlier this year. The upcoming outing will be the group's first proper North American tour, according to its publicist.
The trio will kick things off with an April 28 slot at the Coachella festival in Indio, CA, but the first headlining show comes a couple of nights later, April 30 in Washington, DC.
The tour includes a pair of dates--May 8 in Chicago and May 13 in Seattle--when the band will play both an early show and a late show the same night. The group's complete itinerary is included below. Brooklyn-based indie rockers Au Revoir Simone will pair up with the Swedish act for several dates during the tour.
Released in February, "Writer's Block" is Peter Bjorn and John's third studio album, and follows 2005's "Falling Out." The album's most recent single, "Objects of My Affection," was released on 7-inch vinyl and 3-track CD in February. Both formats include a remix of the group's "Let's Call It Off" by electronica DJ Girl Talk (Greg Gillis).
